These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Between Contractions (the "App"), a free contraction timer for expecting parents, available on iOS and Android, and this companion website (together, the "Service"). By downloading, opening, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What Between Contractions Is
Between Contractions helps you time contractions, view your contraction history, and get an alert based on the widely-used 5-1-1 rule (contractions roughly 5 minutes apart, lasting about 1 minute, for 1 hour). Where available on your device, it may also offer on-device AI-generated insights about your logged contraction patterns. Between Contractions is free, ad-free, and does not require an account.
Not medical advice. Between Contractions is an informational and organizational tool only. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical guidance. The 5-1-1 rule and any AI-generated insights are general reference points, not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified doctor, midwife, or other licensed healthcare provider. Always follow the guidance of your care team, and if you believe you are in labor, having a medical emergency, or are otherwise concerned about your or your baby's health, contact your healthcare provider or emergency services immediately rather than relying on the App.
2. No Account, Data Stays on Your Device
Between Contractions doesn't require you to create an account, and your contraction history is stored locally on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details on exactly what is (and isn't) stored and shared.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose of personal contraction tracking, and not to misuse it, attempt to reverse engineer it beyond what applicable law permits, or use it in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Service for other users.
4. Intellectual Property
The Between Contractions name, logo, design, and underlying source code are the property of the developer and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms don't grant you any rights to use the Between Contractions name or branding outside of using the App as intended.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee that timing, calculations, alerts, or any AI-generated insights will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly accurate.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer of Between Contractions will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or health outcomes, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example as the App gains new features. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
